Graphics: General Information

Graphics: General Information
Web Graphics | 2D Graphics | 3D Graphics | Logos | Screen Wallpaper

We mostly specialize in graphic design for a computer screen. This includes design of web sites and graphics for the web, FLASH animation and graphics, interactive CD intros and custom corporate screen savers. However, our expertise does not end here. We can take any graphics and export them onto print media, glass, CD labels and more. This means that we could help you develop various types of media that preserve your corporate image and ensure that you are recognized by your clients. We handle private and corporate clients as well as clients from the non-profit sector. Read below about various types of graphics and be sure to view our portfolio for examples and case studies.

Web Graphics

One of the main applications of web graphics is when they are used in designing actual web sites. Most web sites today have a specific look and feel. That look and feel is achieved through clever design and application of that design into actual web pages. Depending on client needs, a graphical design of a web page or web site may be more or less demanding. Some web sites are simple while others require much planning and understanding of web programming. It is one thing to design a web site look on paper or even on a computer, but implementing that design on a web site is a difficult process. When designing a web site look and feel we come up with several ideas and samples based on our study of a client and we present those ideas to the client. Our clients communicate with us and together we arrive at the best possible solution. Often, adjustments need to be made before we arrive at the final model. Due to the nature of web pages, the final model needs to be precisely sliced into pieces to later be put back together in a web browser. You probably noticed how some web sites load in pieces. That's because they are sliced into smaller portions — but the final image is what counts. In some cases our clients wish to present different sections of their web site in variations of the same design but in different colors. So web design is really a complicated process of many steps before the final product.

Web graphics, aside from actual web sites, also includes regular graphics that are intended for presentation on the web. These can range from small custom buttons and banners to full photographs or animation. When creating graphics for the web download time is always a factor. It is important to find the right balance between quality and download speed. We want to be able to download the graphics quickly but we also want them to look good. Finding the right balance is an art in itself. When we design graphics for the web we always optimize them for even slower dial-up modem connections but we also make sure they look great on the screen. Everything you see on our web site is some form of a web graphic. By trying to make a web site be functional and user-friendly it is sometimes important to increase the download time of such a web site. This may depend on the customer base for a specific client. If you feel that most of your clients are people who use dial-up connections you may need to sacrifice some of the special features of your site or web graphics.

2D Graphics

2D graphics is any two-dimensional art. Most graphics you see on the web is two-dimensional art. However, any two dimensional element can be easily turned into a three-dimensional object or an illusion of such an object. Some 2D graphics may even look somewhat like 3D objects through simple application of light and shadow effects. Photographs are also 2D representations of a three-dimensional world or objects. We don't really think of photographs or lighted 2D graphics as true 3D graphics. Therefore we consider all 2D elements as 2D unless they were created with a 3D model in mind. A true 3D object needs to have an ability of being turned in space by 360 degrees.

3D Graphics

3D graphics are representations of objects in three-dimensional space. Even though you may choose to present a 3D object on a flat screen without motion you should be able to present that object from any angle if desired. We can take any 2D object and turn it into 3D. This is not always a simple process depending on the complexity of the object in question. For example, you see our logo as a 2D image in the top left corner of our web pages. However, on our splash page you saw a 3D representation of our logo. That means that we are able to show our logo from any angle and we are even able to present it spinning in a three-dimensional space.

There are various techniques in creating 3D objects on a computer. Aside from creating original objects in 3D programs, it is possible to photograph real objects from various angles and joining individual shots to generate a 3D model of an object. We have experience in achieving 3D models in various ways.

Logos

We can design a new logo for you or redesign your existing logo. We can also take your existing logo and create it digitally so that you may use it on your web site or any other software application. We can also take your logo and create a 3D model of it, animate it or make a custom screen saver of your logo. Finally, we can create vector-based digital version of your logo that will improve your printable representations of it. We work with various printers and are able to provide printers with formatted versions of graphics that make their job easier. View our examples to get an idea of what's possible.

In addition, we are able to work with special adhesive material to create any graphical art such as logos and corporate names for application on glass doors or windows. Many clients decide to use this type of art on their entrance doors to their offices, stores and buildings. See our glass graphics section below for more details.
